Born and bred just outside of Hokitika in the heart of New Zealand’s jade territory, Garry Fairbrother’s backyard was a place where spectacular and rare pieces of Pounamu (Greenstone or New Zealand Jade) could be found.
From a young age, Garry developed a passion for discovering pounamu and at the time, only a small number of people were involved in the industry.
The magnificent pieces of pounamu he found soon inspired Garry to the art of carving. In his 30 year career to date, Garry’s artistic imagination and technical skill have combined to create some magical works of art, and his love for this valued stone is showcased through his highly regarded carvings.
