Graeme Wylie was trained in Hokitika on the West Coast by one of New Zealand’s top greenstone carvers at the time. His workshop is now based in Akaroa’s Banks Peninsula.In 25 years of carving, Graeme has developed a respect and admiration of Māori culture which has paved the way for him to create many beautiful works of art based on traditional designs. Graeme has an innate ability to ‘feel’ the stone and ‘hear’ what it is saying to him - intuitively knowing how to get the best out of each stone. He is a talented carver with his own style and designs. With his connection to the stone, Graeme’s art is recognised all over the world. In 2002, Graeme won a prestigious award at the Mana Pounamu New Zealand Jade Exhibition in Greymouth.
